WHY WE FOSTER
BigCountry Kennels was built on the desire to produce healthy, sound dogs for a family. We found that the foster family program better suited our busy lifestyles between full time careers, raising a family and running a business. Our foster program allowed us to ensure our dogs were given the proper amount of love and affection they so deserved. While still being able to breed top quality Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs and Bernese Mountain Dogs.
Our foster families are chosen through either family relation or friendship. We ensure there is excellent communication between both breeder and foster family on a relational level but also maintained in a professional capacity. Our foster families are required to feed a proper raw diet provided by Big Country Raw. We generally encourage a small amount of distance between a foster families home and the breeders home due to the large amount of travel required for breeding purposes. As the breeder we have full breeding rights and ownership to the dog till they have retired from our breeding program. Once the dog has been spayed or neutered the foster family is transferred all ownership.
We are so grateful for each of our foster families whether they are still within the breeding program or retired. Each foster family holds a special place in our hearts and we could not do what we do without them. We have found long lasting friendships and enjoy watching our dogs grow healthy and strong beneath their care.
